Excommunicant Politics

I received this email from a friend’s father this morning, and am sharing it with his permission:
By the way, not to shock you but I’ve gone over to the Obama campaign as a freelance writer. I thought I could infuse some of my Catholic upbringing into his campaign spots and help attract the liberal Catholic vote. Here is one of my first pieces that I have written for him. It plays better when sung:
Holy, holy, holy Barack,
god of power and HOPE,
heaven and earth are filled with your glory,
Obama in the highest!
Blessed is he who comes in the name of Barack,
Obama in the highest!
Think I have a future? Perhaps as an excommunicant?
