The Week in Review
Posted by Katie Favazza - 09/22/08 at 02:09 pmWhen I asked my readers last week if they thought Lieberman’s support of John McCain would swing Jewish voters to McCain, 476 people responded. 65 percent said yes (311 votes total) and 35 percent said no (135 votes). One reader, using the screen name ssaglia, commented on the poll like this:
This whole switch with Lieberman is so embarassing to the Democratic party. A one-time vice-presidential candidate now eight years later supporting the oppposing candidate. It just shows me how divided the Democratic Party is. Maybe the Clintons will be the next party loyalists to leave. Right behind her friend.”
I also asked readers the following question: “Do you think college professors should keep their extreme politics out of the classroom?” Nearly 600 readers responded to that poll and an overwhelming 97 percent said “yes.”
The numbers don’t stop there: 99 percent of my readers said that they didn’t support the Gang of 10 plan and, in a separate poll within the same blog post, 99 percent of my readers said they didn’t want McCain to join the Gang of 10, as was rumored at the time of posting.
Aside from my fixation with numbers and polls last week, I was happy to post about yet another signal of the looming victory in Iraq: the launch of an economic newspaper in Mosul.
I also recommended that my readers check out a video documenting the world’s most expensive bus stop, funded by American taxpayers, and get involved in exposing government waste in their own backyards.
Personally, it was a terrific week, too. My friend and fellow conservative Kevin had a great show and I found a way to support the Republic of Georgia with Russian-Less Vodka Martinis!
