If you’re looking for a few simple ways to become a better cook, check out this list from the New York Times that details simple replacements you can make to your routine. Some of the steps are more cost effective than others–buying dry beans, for one, is economical, but buying fresh parsley each week is not–but all in all, these are pretty basic concepts and good for anyone who wants to tip-toe into the deep end of cooking.

What baffled me most in the last week, as I was studying the different ways websites are used for political ends, is how many people watched the YouTube video explaining the features of my.barackobama.com. To date, more than 73,000 people have watched an informative–albeit boring–6 and a half minute video explaining how the site works and what tools are available to those who use it. Most good video blogs can only retain the attention of their audience for about a minute.

American Idol: Unterekless-Style

Auditions for the new season of American Idol begin airing this week–and I’m happy to say that I’ll be helping out Karen Untereker of Unterekless.com with her show commentary. Look for posts on Fridays at first, and once the heart of the season gets underway, our rankings and comments will run before the results shows on Wednesdays.
