What I’m Reading This Month: July 2009
Posted by Catherine Favazza - 07/05/09 at 07:07 pmThis is the first in a series of new, monthly posts I’m writing about the books I’m reading each month. Yes, I’m an Amazon Associate, which means I get a small referral fee if you buy something through Amazon through a link on my site, but I also thought this would be good because it means I have to actually make time to read the books I say I’m reading.
Without further adieu, here are the three books I’m reading in July:
When my folks were visiting over Memorial Day weekend, we had the pleasure of visiting Lincoln’s Summer Cottage in Washington, DC. It became a national monument in 2000–thanks to President Clinton–and was opened to the public in February 2008. While there, I purchased the book Lincoln and Whitman. I was an English major at Catholic University and wrote my final senior research paper on Walt Whitman. I’m only a few pages into the book so far, and I’m already excited to finish it.
I’m not proud of it, but yes, I’m reading the Shopaholic series. After a day of politics and policies, I like to clear my head and read something that doesn’t matter. If you’re female and interested in clearing your head, start with Confessions of a Shopaholic and Shopaholic Takes Manhattan.
I bought this book for my dad for Fathers’ Day and decided to read it myself, too. It comes highly recommended from a friend and, as a budding foodie myself, I’m really interested to learn how salsa and sushi became part of mainstream American cuisine.
Not interested in these books? Search here for other books or products, and I’ll get a cut. Thank you in advance!
