Joshua M. Rosenblum, 1973-2001: A Project 2,996 Tribute
Posted by Catherine Favazza - 09/12/09 at 01:09 pmI can hardly type this one.
Joshua M. Rosenblum was murdered on Sept. 11, 2001, just 4 days before his wedding day. He and his fiancée Gina Hawryluk both worked in the World Trade Center for Cantor Fitzgerald in trading.
Joshua arrived on the morning of Sept. 11 to put in his last shift before the wedding, but Gina stayed home to work on wedding preparations.
When I read that for the first time, I cried so hard I couldn’t breathe. My very raw reaction to this reminded me of why Project 2,996 is so important. Everyone has a story. Everyone deserves to be mourned and remembered.
Gina’s then 5-year-old daughter Zoe called her would-be dad, “My Josh.” Gina’s mother Angela has posted messages to Joshua to update on the family of which he was a very real part:

Dear Josh, Gina, Zoe and our whole family miss you terribly. My daughter Gina’s life was turned upside down that awful day. We miss all the good times we had down the Jersey Shore with you and all the boys and girls from Cantor. It was only fate that kept Gina home that day preparing for her wedding. I guess God had a reason for this but I know her life will never be the same. You are always in our prayers and thoughts everyday. May God bless you and keep you. Love your mother-in-law, Angela.
Just yesterday, Angela added:
September 11, 2009
Dear Josh, Another year has past and we still think of you and all the fun we had. We miss your wit and your smile. Gina & Zoe are doing OK. Zoe has a picture of you in her bedroom. Life does go on but we will never forget. Love, Ang
Josh, Gina and Zoe’s story is one that I will not forget. My prayers are with them now and always.

Katie – This is heartbreaking. But Joshua’s story and the stories of the loved ones he left behind need to be told. Thank you for turning us all onto the 2,996 project and for this tribute. Putting faces and stories with the names makes it all the more real.

The essence of what this project is trying to capture, and what you are doing here, I think I have captured here: http://theinterface.blogtownhall.com/2009/09/10/the_value_of_the_individual__the_significance_of_911_to_our_cultural_psyche.thtml
Well done to all who have participated.
